Quick Drug GuideAccording to the 2009 National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH), illicit drug use has risen to its “highest levels in 8 years…an estimated 21.8 million people—said they used illicit drugs in the month prior to the survey…an increase of 9 percent over the 2008 rates”. The Director of the National Institute on Drug Abuse’s Division of Epidemiology, Dr. Compton stated that “the rise in drug abuse also corresponds with a decrease in prevention messages…as well as a weakening perception that …drugs are harmful”. The sad reality is that drug and alcohol abuse always leads to addiction. No one, regardless of education, social status, religion, ethnic origins, sexual orientation is immune to the disease of addiction.
